The King of the
Jungle Making a SPLASH From June 26th?!

23rd February 2004

We’re only about half way through The Lion King Carnival but already
there is some exciting news about the next major Lion King event in
Disneyland Park, as DLP.info presents some information from a “trusted
source” that has made everyone’s anticipation of the New Lion King
Show grow even further!  Here is the news report from DLP.info:

“On June 26 the new Lion King Show will open in the Videopolis –
which promises to be a breath taking experiences. As well
informed sources let us know work on the actual stage of the
Videopolis will start as soon as Mickey’s Showtime has had its
last performance on April 12, the birthday of the Disneyland
Resort Paris. Two and half month preperation time? If you hear
the plans for that stage you will understand…

“The stage for the new show meant to pick up the success and
scope of long term favorites as the Mulan Show has been designed
by the entertainment division together with Disneyland Resort
Paris Imagineering who contracted the company behind the water
features of the show at the world-famous Lido de Paris to help
realize some of the stunning features of the new sets which will
include a complex system of water fountains and a real lake set
in a realistic savannah backdrop!! Certainly installation of
these features needs more time than the usual change of sets for
a “normal” show.”

Sounds pretty damn
cool, doesn’t it?!  A preparation time of two and a half months
is very long for a show in Videopolis, meaning this show will
definitely be as big as we had expected.  The water effects sound
fantastic and should give the show something very different to set it
apart from other indoor theatre shows in Disney Theme Parks.
It’ll also hopefully make it a better show for guests, and they are
more likely to remember it because of original effects like this,
meaning this could help spread word-of-mouth and lead to more guests
in following years.

What exactly the “water
effects” will consist of is unconfirmed at this point.  DLP.info
suggests “a complex system of water fountains and a real lake” whilst
some fans have spoken about a “cascade” on the stage.  The
company rumoured (and also very likely) to be providing the water
effects is infact Aquatique Show International, a French
company famous for providing amazing water effects for attractions all
over France, including the famous night-time lake shows at Futuroscope
Park in Poitiers, France.  If you take a look at the company’s
website you can see previews of some of their various water effects –
will The Lion King Show use any of these?  We’ll have to wait and
see!

In other
“Lion King Show” news, the Official Disneyland Resort Paris
Entertainment Schedule on

www.disneylandparis.com was updated on February 15th with the
confirmation of the new show’s name.  Are you ready? It will be
called:

The Legend of The Lion
King
!

Yes, it’s the same name
as the old puppet show in Florida’s Magic Kingdom, but from what we’ve
already heard it will be a very different show indeed!
Thankfully they didn’t stick with the name as “The Lion King Show” as
it was in the Spring/Summer 2004 brochure, and this new name sounds
far more impressive – hopefully to fit with the show!
