New Disneyland Park
Map – First Show Advertising!

8th March 2004

The new Disneyland Park map that was put in the racks today features
the first advertising for The Legend of the Lion King, and they really
are pushing it as much as possible!  Those people afraid of the
lack of Lion King in the Park Map after the Lion King Carnival
finished yesterday (7th March 2004) should worry no more, as you
really can’t escape it here!

The front of the Park
Map features the words “The Legend of the Lion King” in the usual gold
DLRP font, with “Roaring from June 26th” written below (in the English
version).  There is also a stamp next to the show’s title saying
“NEW SHOW!”.  It’s a shame they haven’t thought up a sub-title
for this show really.  As it looks like it could quite possibly
match the quality of “Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular” and “Snow White:
An Enchanting New Musical”, it would be nice if DLRP could make the
show sound just that little bit more impressive by adding a sub-title.
Obviously it could be argued that the name is already to long for
that, but they wouldn’t have to use it all the time, just in certain
advertising areas like this.  How does “The Legend of the Lion
King – A Spectacular New Musical” sound?

Inside the map, in
the “Entertainment” section, you can find “The Legend of the Lion
King” nestled in amongst all the many other shows and parades in
Disneyland Park at the moment.  Instead of a photo for the show,
however, there is the lion symbol from the logo.  The text in
this section makes the show sound very exciting indeed, and also
confirms the first showtimes:

The Legend of
The Lion King

(D10) Videopolis,
Discoveryland

The
legend of a great African kingdom comes to life all around you
with the thrill of pulsating rhythms and an explosion of special
effects.
STARTING
JUNE 26th: 2pm & 3.15pm.
JUNE 27th: 2pm, 3.15pm, 4.30pm.
JUNE 28th – JULY 9th: weekdays: 2pm, 3.15pm & 4.30pm; weekends:
12.15pm, 2pm, 3.15pm, 4.30pm

So this
definitely confirms the use of lots of special effects, and also shows
that when the show starts it will have very few shows per day – only
two on June 26th!  They’re going to be packed performances!
This increases to three from June 27th, with four on weekends.
Hopefully this number will increase after July 9th because otherwise
there is no way everyone who wants to see the show will fit into
Videopolis!

As we no
open up the map we are greeted by the final surprise – the
bottom-right corner of the map features the savannah background from
the Spring/Summer 2004 Brochure with the show’s logo and a very
serious looking “June 26th, 2004.  New show at Videopolis”.
Disneyland Resort Paris are now definitely very serious about this
show, which looks to be their big new feature for the 2004 season!

Here are
the sections of the March 8th – July 9th Park Map featuring The Legend
of the Lion King:
