King Ludwigs Castle
Deep in the heart of Disney Village lies an enchanted castle where Bavarian cuisine is served within a fairytale background of splendour and delight. Willkommen to King Ludwigs Castle!
Youll live the story that inspired Sleeping Beauty Castle and indulge in a selection of taste sensations fit for a King. As a member of the royal court youll dine in 19th century romantic splendour surrounded by ornate carvings, wood panels and colourful flags heralding a mouth watering feast to come.
Heres one of the Kings men – with a message in hand! Gastronomic treats ahead. First stop Munich: Oktoberfest Style Pretzels with Sweet Mustard anyone? Further east on the menu, a choice of Wiener Schnitzel or Braised Mushrooms with Sptzls in cream sauce. Completed with beer from the Royal Kaltenberg Brewery. Then for dessert, Your Majesty has whipped up a sweet surprise – a happy ending to a magnificent meal.
From sizzling starters to mmm main courses, its a royal feast all year round at King Ludwigs Castle!
King Ludwig’s Castle was open to guests from late May 2003, but had it’s official inauguration in early June 2003. The building was previously the “Rock N Roll America Caf”, and King Ludwig’s Castle clearly defined the “World Showcase” theme Disney Village was adopting, instead of the former American theme.

The restaurant will be sponsored by the Kaltenberg brewery which produces King Ludwig Beer and operated by Groupe Flo, which already operates Caf Mickey, the Steakhouse, Rainforest Caf, Annette’s Diner and New York Style Sandwiches.
December 2002 Rock N Roll America caf and shop close, construction walls with concept art and logos put up.
January 2003 Rock N Roll America caf and shop now completely gutted.
March 2003 Framework for new hexagonal extension for main tower of castle constructed.
April 2003 Extension finished, early exterior details added.
May 2003 Exterior turrets added. Scaffolding taken down. Final paint colour applied. Main exterior paintwork finished. Some construction walls taken down. Doors added. All details added, inside & out. Main construction work finished.
June 2003 King Ludwig’s Castle officially opens. Final artwork logos/designs and more details added to exterior.
