“Mon amour, oh mon amour! Guy je t’aime!” The haunting chansons of the 1964 French musical echo in your head as you grab the umbrella and dance under a Cherbourg rain shower!
Directed by Jacques Demy, the bittersweet musical centering around an umbrella shop and love torn apart is one of the stand-out pieces of French filmmaking of its era, featuring a memorable score by Michel Legrand and a palette awash with pastel colours. For modern audiences, the most common comment, however, would probably be that “they sing everything!” — indeed, even the most mundane everyday conversation!
This shop façe was a surprise to the first guests inside Walt Disney Studios Park upon its opening. Whilst the rest of the original 2002 park had very little exterior details or theme elements between its otherwise strong attractions, this location was a small spark of fun amidst the grey.
Stand under the umbrella and, during the warmer months, a strong sprinkling of rain showers down from a sprinkler above. The location is also occasionally used as a Disney Character meet ‘n’ greet location, particularly with Chip ‘n’ Dale (check the Calendar for any current meets here).
