| Overview | You want the world, nothing less! Pop hits, popping colours and bopping dance moves hit the streets of Walt Disney Studios Park in a live, interactive medley celebrating all three High School Musical films. The third show at the park based on the blockbuster “tween” franchise, Disneyland Paris again chose to go a different way to its American cousins. Last year, they broke Wild Cat ranks by launching the new High School Musical 2: School’s Out! but the original High School Musical On Tour running each morning. In 2009, the older hits make a return again as the park chooses not to present the full High School Musical 3: Right Here, Right Now! show seen in Florida and California but a medley of songs from all three shows. For the initiated, High School Musical began as a nondescript direct-to-television movie on the Disney Channel back in 2006. Surprising everyone, particularly Disney, it became the most successful Disney Channel Original Movie ever, produced an equally record-breaking soundtrack album and unimaginable home video sales. The subsequent 2007 sequel became the highest-rated “Basic Cable” broadcast in history and the 2008 big-screen “threequel” claimed the highest ever opening weekend box office for a musical. With instantly catchy songs, easy to mirror dance moves and stars — both of the films and these Disney Park adaptions — as bright and glossy as can be, you’ll either love it or really, truly hate it. However, there is a lot to like about this show and its previous incarnations. The international cast, hailing from France, the UK, the United States and all over the world, are outstanding; whether singing fully live, performing basketball tricks or wrapping the audience up in the action, this is one of the most energetic and exciting shows you’ll see. Even if you’ve yet to catch any of the films, it will be worthwhile stopping to appreciate their dedication. For “HSM” fans (young and old!), though, the spectacle will be a real hit. Though this medley version loses some of the story and flow of the two previous versions, the upside is the inclusion of a record number of popular hits to surely please everyone. Continue to Scene-by-Scene Guide… | | | Helpful Tips - This street show uses a “rolling” stage to hold permances along the park’s parade route, giving you two chances per performance to catch the action. The cavalcade enters from Backlot and stops in front of the giant Moteurs… Action! letters, before moving on to Production Courtyard for a second performance in front of the gardens of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
- Despite having two show areas per performance, the popularity of the gang from East High requires you to arrive at least 10-15 minutes in advance for a front-row view.
- Young children are invited to step into the performance twice, including aiming basketballs and making music from kitchen utensils. Stand near the front if you’d like a better chance of getting involved, and feel free to copy the dance moves!

© Photos Magiques What Time Is It “What time is it? Summer time!” The show begins with this bouncing, hand-clapping opening number from the second film, as the cast of students from East High dance into the park. On Summer “vacation” in France, they’ve brought a medley of their school’s favourite songs to the Walt Disney Studios, recreating the original dance moves of the corridor wave and ticking clock. Get’cha Head in the Game Before you’ve had time to catch a breath, the next, breathless number begins. Featuring the male cast performing basketball tricks between their dance moves, this number provides the first chance for some audience interaction, as the Wild Cats hand out basketballs and encourage their younger fans to practice along. Work This Out Teamwork is the moral here, as the students reluctantly pick up the brooms, brushes and noisy kitchen utensils of their Summer jobs. Soon enough, in classic Disney style, these become a chance to work together to create a more fun, musical way to get the job done… and you’re invited to join in! 
© Photos Magiques Just Wanna Be With You The Senior Year kids sing to their futures in a number of steadfast friendship and love. “Through every up, through every down, I will always be around”. It’s a chance to take a breath and sway along with the people you just want to be with. I Want It All “Now it’s my turn to have some fun!” shouts the resident diva amongst the students, kicking of the real show-stopper of the performance, an unashamed pastiche of all things big and Broadway. “Hey Zac, wanna be my… leading man?” — Zac stutters, and doesn’t really have time to answer, before he’s whipped up into a high-kicking, big-thinking comedie musicale. Feather boas, top hats and swinging canes all round! We’re All in This Together Go Wild Cats! The show is almost complete — just time for the classic finale, the unforgettable anthem of the franchise. Younger children are invited to the front to dance along with the students in their final send-off, with a burst of colourful streamers to bring the spectacle to a close. Continue to Video… | |
