28th February 2005 SpaceMountain2.com – COMING SOON! Just spotted today is the new www.spacemountain2.com website, which features a very nice modern design and a quick preview at what the full site will look like when it goes online next month. After the rather cheap looking design of www.mission2.nl, fans will be pleased to see that this website’s design looks amazingly professional, and should work very well to get potential guests excited about the ride. It is likely that this website’s address will be featured at the end of the TV commercials for the attraction, or it will at least be featured prominently on the www.disneylandparis.com homepage (at present the 1min teaser trailer features the address of the main website and not this specific one). |

24th February 2005 3 Extra Days To Wait Again… Once again it seems that the official public opening of Space Mountain: Mission 2 has been altered – this time back to the original date of April 9th 2005. The date was originally altered to avoid it clashing with Prince Charles’ wedding just one day earlier, but now it has been decided that, to avoid confusion and unnecessary expense with changing the date on all publicity, the official opening will indeed be April 9th 2005. As the resort still hopes to get as much of the press at the attraction opening as possible though, the big press event and unveiling of the newly reloaded attraction will take place on April 6th 2005. These two dates have been confirmed by both the Disneyland Resort Paris press office and the posters in the park – which have now had the makeshift “6” removed from on top of the “9”. |

15th February 2005 Blast Off 3 Days Early! Earlier this week rumours started to emerge that Disneyland Resort Paris could move the official opening of Space Mountain: Mission 2 to an earlier date to avoid the attention of the press being overrun by the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles which is due to take place on April 8th 2005. This news has now been official confirmed and a new official opening date of 6th April 2005 has been announced by the replacement of the “9” by a “6” on the teaser posters which have now appeared along the construction walls of the attraction. It is likely hoped that this new date will allow for more attention on the relaunch of the attraction, and this also shows that the attraction probably isn’t going to be in a rush to get finished if they afford to open it three whole days early. Unfortunately for Disneyland Resort Paris though, this important date change means they now need to change the dates on every element of the huge publicity campaign that has already begun throughout the resort. Since the difference is only three days though, it’s quite likely that to make the change easier to handle some advertisements will be left as they are, and the “official” opening date as advertised outside the parks may stay as 9/04/2004, with the attraction still actually opening on 6/04/2005 to create a good pre-opening buzz and ensure more of the media’s attention. |

15th February 2005 High-Quality Official Concept Art Released! The concept art we saw a few weeks ago is now available in a higher quality version, taken direct from the art itself and not from photos of the display at the Cast Member’s New Attractions preview exhibition. This new concept art presents a different version of the attraction’s logo, where the name “Space Mountain: Supernova!” is used instead of “Mission 2”. It remains to be seen whether “Mission 2” will stay the attraction’s name long after the opening, but for now this new concept art provides a better look at the new effects and an exciting glimpse at exactly what they meant by a “Victorian space station”! Click here to see the concept art in full. |
