Space Mountain: Mission 2 Concept Art Revealed!
This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for – our first glimpse
at the concept art for Space Mountain: Mission 2! Luckily,
thanks to “berty05” that moment is right now, and the concept art
reveals lots of nice surprises. We get to the see the
awesome Supernova effect that appears to almost fill one quarter
of the side of the mountain, aswell as the incredible “chasing the
comet” sequence and more star fields and effects along the way.
Another nice surprise is that the logo already released for Space
Mountain: Mission 2 (such as the one above) appears to only be for
the attraction’s marketing campaign and publicity. The
concept art features a new design of the logo which sticks very
closely to the original “De La Terre � La
Lune” design. This logo is used on each concept art aswell
as the new entrance sign, which incorporates several aspects of
the old design aswell as making the text brighter and more

Exterior Work Has Begun on Space Mountain: Mission 2!
As soon as the last flight to the moon had landed safely back on
Earth, the team responsible for the change from “De La Terre � La
Lune” to “Mission 2” got to work straight away. The ropes of
the outside queuing lines were gone by 8pm and as the hours
progressed more and more work began to get this mammoth task
finished by April. Thanks to J�o�el we can now see the extent of the work, with the
entrance sign and various other items already removed and large
construction fences closing off the entire site.

Repainted Train For Mission 2 Revealed
This incredible image taken by “YAM12R” has been doing the rounds
on the internet a lot in the last few hours, and with good reason!
It is the first image of a newly repainted Space Mountain: Mission
2 train, which features a new silver and blue colour scheme with
gold and bronze detailing in certain areas. This new colour
will help to freshen up the trains (which were unable to be
replaced due to their complexity) aswell as infact moving closer
to the original Jules Verne story, since in Verne’s novel the
projectile fired at the moon was a large silver bullet-shaped
capsule. | | |

This is it! If you wanted to visit the moon again… you’re
too late! Today is the last day of missions to the moon and
so we bid the original storyline to our beloved attraction
“farewell!”. For all the excitement, fear, and sense of
discovery you’ve provided us with we wish for ten times more in
Mission 2! And now – to the edge of the universe, and
beyond! After all, “What one can conceive, one can achieve”. | | |

“Last
Chance” Event Brings First Mission 2 Publicity
The “Last Chance” event for Space Mountain: De La Terre � La Lune
took place today, and although the event was commemorating the end
of almost 10 years of journeys from the earth to the moon, the
resort used this chance to preview some very nice banners which
will be used in the parks to advertise Space Mountain: Mission 2.

Disneyland Resort Paris Announces “The Secrets Of Mission 2”
Today, Disneyland Resort Paris sent out a press release which
confirms many of the details of Space Mountain: Mission 2, whilst
also providing us with some very exciting new information!
Here’s a summary:
The Rocket Trains
� The rocket trains WILL launch from the base of the cannon!
This increases the length of the launch by 40% and creates an
initial acceleration of 14m/s.
� A brand new sound system will be fitted into all trains.
It will use the newer technology of Rock N Rollercoaster and means
there will now be five speakers in each section of each carriage –
two at head level, two at waist level and one down by your feet.
The Music
� New speakers inside the attraction itself will provide extra
sounds for the various effects which you’ll encounter.
� The new Space Mountain: Mission 2 ride score is being written by
Michael Giacchino. This up-and-coming composer has past
works such as Pixar’s The Incredibles and high-quality TV show
Alias, aswell as numerous well-known and atmospheric video games.
Queue Line
� The “Star Way” WILL be enclosed, with the walls featuring
photographs of the many phenomena present in the universe such as
quasars, nov�, comets… to help prepare Exploranauts for their
mission!
Visual Effects
� Once inside the attraction, plunged in a cosmic universe,
the passengers will be confronted by a series of cosmic phenomena
which will cause changes of direction and disorientation of the
rocket train. Passengers brave enough will meet a
spectacular supernova – a cataclysmic explosion of a massive star
which can sometimes shine more brightly than a whole galaxy made
up of billion stars – and cross a kind of luminous “vortex” on
return to Earth.
� Whereas Space Mountain: De La Terre � La Lune was largely in the
dark, Space Mountain: Mission 2’s effects will be much more
visible and present throughout the ride. Among the effects
to be added are projections of star fields which will give
visitors the immediate impression of being in space, new comet
projections and meteors, the explosion of a supernova and many
more new lighting effects to support the ride’s story.. | | |

Rumours
Soar As Last Day Of “De La Terre � La Lune” Nears
Here’s a little rumour-roundup for you, as we enter the final week
of missions to the moon and look ahead to the future and even
further into the universe…
� New rumours are suggesting that the rocket trains will not be
replaced and will simply be repainted silver. It is also
likely that the sound system of the trains will also be upgraded
since when it was created Flash cards and the related hardware
were still in their infancy.
� Those rumours of the rocket trains being launch from the base of
the cannon are becoming ever more certain.
� A short summary of the new effects and their sequence has also
surfaced. It seems we’ll first fly through some orange
meteors before heading through a remote galaxy and have a comet
chase the rocket! Next the supernova will explode right in
front of us (where the Moon currently is) and then we’ll glide
back down to Earth through a spiral galaxy…
And finally…
� The “Star Way” is looking ever more likely to be completely
enclosed so that the view into the mountain is lost. It is
likely that in its place we’ll have some kind of exhibition-style

The
Moon Shines Brighter Than Ever Before!
It has been confirmed by a number of fans that the projection
effect of the Moon has been altered already. Now, instead of
the moon being projected onto the domed ceiling of Space Mountain
itself, the Moon is being projected onto a new screen incorporated
into the wall/ceiling. This new screen has brought an
amazing amount of life back into the moon in it’s final days
inside the attraction, as with the new screen it can now be seen
razor sharp as you climb the lift hill in this section of the
ride. It is likely that the screen was put in place now as a
small hint to what we can expect with Mission 2 in terms of the
projection quality, but whatever the reason it truly is fantastic
to see the Moon shining so brightly in its final few days. | | | | | | | |
