� The
resort celebrated its first Christmas with the addition of many
magical decoration throughout the resort, along with some very
special investments which would light up Christmases for many
years to come!  The popular Lights Of Winter made their
debut down Main Street USA, and the huge Christmas Tree took
centre stage on top of the Town Square band stand for the first
of many years.  The resort’s famous Tree Lighting Ceremony
was also first performed this year.
� The Lights Of Winter were so popular that the idea was
transferred to Epcot in Walt Disney World for a similar display
of festive lights.
� The resort’s first Christmas Parade began this year, though it
was somewhat smaller than today’s parades.
� The musical family show “Le No�l de Mickey” premiered this year
on the Fantasy Festival Stage.
� A special Christmas version of the Main Street Electrical
Parade had its first season in the resort.

� The
first major addition to the festival occurred this year with the
addition of several beautiful ice sculptures on Central Plaza. 
These were made of “fake” ice and provided good seasonal photo
opportunities for guests.

� The
first proper Christmas parade begins with Disney Characters, toy
soldiers and Father Christmas in a Nutcracker theme. 
“Mickey’s Nutcracker Parade” becomes an instant hit and has a
successful six year run.  A CD was also released with the
parade’s Nutcracker soundtrack.

�
After the construction of a roof along with various other
improvements, the Chaparral Theatre was ready to host its very
own Christmas show, “Mickey’s Winter Wonderland”.  The show
includes a magical melody of songs such as “Let It Snow” aswell
as appearances by all of the “Fab 5” and some extra dancers. 
The winter theme of the show meant it would be able to continue
performances into February, long after Christmas Season itself
had finished.

� A
special Mickey Statue on Central Plaza shines a beam of laser
light down Main Street USA to help light the Town Square
Christmas Tree.  Unfortunately, the huge storm of December
26th 1999 destroyed the statue aswell as forced the park to close
for possibly the first time since 1992.
� It’s A Small World gets its first seasonal makeover with
special Christmas decorations and costumes for the dolls. 
The makeover grants the ride a new seasonal name: “it’s a small
world: Celebration!”

�
Disney Village hosts its first ever Christmas Market, with
special seasonal stalls selling Christmas items and seasonal
wares throughout the Disney Village Main Avenue.

� For
the first time ever, Disneyland park celebrates the Christmas
Season with fireworks!  The “Fire, Frost and Fantasies:
Sparkling Christmas Fireworks” lit up the sky with spectacular
silver tones, and returned in following years as simply the
“Sparkling Christmas Fireworks”, along with new firework effects.
� For one year only, Central Plaza became the “Magical Christmas
Tree Forest” with a collection of Christmas trees soaring up into
the sky, decorated with pictures of the Disney Characters and
various presents.
� The hut on the Castle Stage which is used for “Winnie the Pooh
and Friends, Too” in summer is transformed into a magical winter
photolocation with Father Christmas.

� A
year of huge investment for the season arrives, with the
spectacular “Belle’s Enchanted Christmas Village” in Fantasyland
aswell as (almost) real snowfall on Main Street USA and Walt
Disney Studio’s first Christmas!
� Belle’s Enchanted Christmas Village brought a whole new
dimension to Christmas in Disneyland Resort Paris, with a mini
land devoted to the season with the magical setting from the
classic Disney film.  The village proved incredibly popular
with numerous seasonal stalls, puppet shows, storytelling and
more.  At night, the village was lit with warm subtle
lighting, nestling underneath the Old Mill with its many magical
fairy lights.  Belle appeared again later in the season for
a special dinner dance Enchanted Ball in the Pavilion near
Discoveryland.
� Walt Disney Studios Park’s first Christmas was celebrated with
special lights in Frontlot, on Disney Studio 1 and around Caf�
des Cascadeurs.  There was also special seasonal
streetmosphere such as carollers in Disney Studio 1.
� Disney Village’s Christmas Market this year had a Canadian
theme.

�
This year saw the investment from 2002 built upon again in the
form of a new Tree Lighting Ceremony, more streetmosphere, a
“new” parade, new music and more decorations for both parks.
� In Disneyland Park Belle’s Enchanted Christmas Village returned
with even more stalls and decorations along with a new revised
storytelling show.  Disney’s Fantillusion lit up the parade
route at night, whilst a “new” daytime parade enchanted guests
during daylight.  The “new” parade featured the floats of
The Princess Parade along with a few from Mickey’s Nutcracker
Parade together with brand new music – “Chante, C’est No�l”. 
A new Tree Lighting Ceremony was used this year, featuring
Santa’s elves and the Disney Characters on a pile of fairytale
story books as they opened up the magic books and lit the Lights
of Winter and the Town Square Christmas Tree.  This year
Town Square also had its flower beds covered in white and
scattered with Christmas Trees to create a new Christmas Tree
Forest.  Unfortunately, the placement of the main tree here
and the lighting ceremony all the way down on Central Plaza meant
guests couldn’t experience the show aswell as the actual tree
lighting up.
� Over in Walt Disney Studios, more lights were added to those
already available from 2002.  These were in the form of
silver stars which jutted out from the Studio’s buildings and
landmarks such as the Partners Statue.
� Disney Village’s Christmas Market had a Scandinavian theme this
year.
