Simple motor cars won’t do for these famous faces — each and every classic automobile has been brilliantly customised for the star in question!
The cars all arrive together from Toon Studio, between Flying Carpets Over Agrabah and Animagique, then travel along the Parade Route directly across the heart of the park. Once at Place des Stars in Production Courtyard, the cavalcade splits into two, with the first group entering the performance area next to CinéMagique and driving around to park up on the right of the stage:
Mickey Mouse and friends
Opening the motorcade is a glistening old-timer decorated with movie reels and celluloid, hosting another old-timer himself: Mickey Mouse! The smart-suited Mouse sits next to his beautiful “plus one”, Minnie Mouse, with Goofy the stagehand running alongside. The yellow art deco “sunburst” behind the characters has been given a new “Disney’s Stars ‘n’ Cars” logo in red and blue to help open the parade.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
“Someday my ride will come” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, but nevertheless Snow White makes her first ever appearance at Walt Disney Studios Park in this ornate yellow, pink and blue vehicle, with the magic mirror behind her seat and Dopey coming along for the ride!
Toy Story
En route to discover a whole load of brand new friends, Woody and Jessie arrive for the grand gala premiere… still in bed! Andy’s bed provides the basis for their vehicle, decorated with his Space Ranger bedsheets and wooden headboard. Mr and Mrs Potato Head stand on the bonnet.
Monsters, Inc.
Since this monstrous red convertible features the Monsters, Inc. logo, we can assume the hero of this picture — the towering Sulley — has granted himself a company car!
The Little Mermaid
Another princess brand new to the park, Ariel arrives from under the sea in a glistening clamshell pulled by a giant seahorse. Beside her, her friends Flounder and Sebastien join the fun on a bright blue car covered in watery ripples and shells, one of which has bubbles floating out.
Mulan
Adding an Asian flair to proceedings, Mulan and Mushu have beautiful oriental designs covering their classic red old-timer, with Chinese lanterns hanging down and a throne for the legend herself.
The second group take a longer route around the back of the gathered crowds to enter Place des Stars from the right and loop around to park up on the left:
Donald & Daisy Duck
With the honour of leading the second half of the cavalcade, Donald Duck‘s deep green car stutters into the park with a giant clapperboard reading “Disney’s Stars ‘n’ Cars” and hastily strung-up set lights on top. On the bonnet, he’s fixed an old-fashioned movie camera to capture the entire cavalcade, whilst various movie-making props and accessories are hanging from every side.
Mary Poppins
For Mary Poppins and Bert, what better way to arrive for a Jolly Holiday than sitting on two fairground carousel horses? Their purple, pink and cream-coloured provides a prim and proper entrance underneath their carousel frivolry.
Aladdin
Who needs a real car when you can just have your Genie transform into one?! Aladdin and his Princess Jasmine roll up to the gala onboard their Genie-shaped car, sitting on the curled-up magic carpet as the lamp smokes gently beside them.
Lilo & Stitch
A tropical-themed automobile, complete with palm trees, surf boards, torches, wooden fittings and hibiscus flower patterns can mean only one thing — Disney’s Hawaiian ohana is here! Lilo and Stitch sit amongst the flowers and dunes of this sunblessed car.
Disney Villains
Naturally, the Disney Villains arrive to disturb the party in a devilish black hotrod, yellow flames licking at its body from the engine grill. On board, Gaston vies for the attentions of Cruella de Vil and the Evil Queen from Snow White, with little success!
