1) Dreams
of Imagination

featuring Mickey, Minnie and the Disney VIPs

The parade begins with a burst of imagination, a
spark of magic. And then – the dreams take flight! Mickey and Minnie hover
high in the sky in a golden hot air balloon! They’ve dropped anchor on a
most dreamy location, the purple curve of a smiling moon, resting on a
storybook. Donald showers the moon in sparkling glitter, as Goofy rests on
the pile of storybooks and blows bubbles into the clouds!

2) Dreams of Laughter & Fun

featuring Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio

A traditional fairytale hut is featured at the
centre of the float, used by Alice in Wonderland first and then Pinocchio at
the rear. The Alice in Wonderland scene features
Tweedle Dee/Dum, the Caterpillar and a tree with painted red roses, as a
giant Alice sits trapped inside the White Rabbit’s cottage. A huge
collection of clocks and clockwork toys fill the scene as we transition to
Pinnocchio, which sees the marionette himself performing with Gepetto. 
Jiminy Crickett sits atop a clock tower, from which several “marionnette” bungee artists
(similar to those in ‘Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams’ at Disneyland in
California) bounce on bungee ropes for an acrobatic marionette routine. 
Stilt walkers will also perform routines with their
own puppets around the float.

3) Dreams of Friendship

featuring Toy Story, Winnie the Pooh

The page of the giant storybook separates the two themes
of this float. At the
front, it serves as the wallpaper of Andy’s Room, as Woody joins his Roundup Gang
and Andy’s toys to remind them “you’ve got a friend in
me”.  A host of characters from the film, including Bullseye,
surround a giant toy chest and the Little Green Men’s giant spaceship arcade
machine.  Turn another page, and you discover a beautiful watercolour
backdrop for Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood.  Winnie’s tree
towers over the area, with lanterns hung around the friends’ special tea
party.

4) Dreams of Fantasy

featuring Peter Pan, Mary Poppins

This very British float first features Captain
Hook’s galley splashing through the waves, before a sea of London rooftops
bring Wendy peering out of her window at Peter Pan on the roof above! 
A whimsically-styled Big Ben towers in the centre of the rooftops, poking
through the clouds, with Mary Poppins and her classic “jolly holiday”
carousel behind, as a fleet of kites hovers above.  A merry band of
pirates waving giant flags will surround the ship at the front of the float,
whilst Mary’s Jolly Holliday will be filled with waddling Penguins!

5) Dreams of Power

featuring Jafar, Ursula, Chernabog and more
Disney Villains

The Disney Villains are out to take command of the
parade, on a dark and menacing float filled with viciousness! As the serpent
Jafar slithers along at the front, Chernabog towers over the parade route on
the desolate summit of Bald Mountain. Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Hades
all writhe in the vicious coil of the serpent, whilst bringing up the rear is
a giant puppet of the slimy sea
monster Ursula. The float is surrounded by menacing souls juggling
(false) fire!

6) Dreams of Adventure

featuring The Lion King, The Jungle Book

A giant, old,
jungle tree towers over the luscious, green Dreams of Adventure, with Simba on Pride Rock
before it and King Louie & Baloo behind in their temple ruins. Various animals from both films
can be found amongst the branches of the tree, including monkeys,
giraffes, vultures and Kaa the snake. Rafiki is clinging to the tree behind Pride Rock, with Timon and
a puppet Pumbaa joining in the celebrations below.  It’s also likely that
several of the colourful jungle animals from the Kids Carnival season will
join the parade at this point.

7) Dreams of Romance
: Part 1

featuring The Little Mermaid, Aladdin

A tropical garden oasis is the setting for Ariel and
Jasmine, with beautiful flowers, sea shells and an enchanted tree bringing a rainbow of
colour to their romantic pursuits.  The Dream of Romance section will
feature the enchanted garden theme throughout, with each of the Princesses’
shimmering dresses scattered with beautiful gold leaves and several dancing
flowers with yellow and green petals surrounding each float.

8) Dreams of Romance
: Part 2

featuring Beauty & the Beast, Snow White,
Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty

The grand finale to the entire parade, this giant
float features a grand total of four princesses! The initial rose-covered gazebo is an
ornate shelter for Beauty and the Beast, whilst the whimsical fairytale
bridge is occupied by Snow White and her prince. On the hill before the
giant castle stands Cinderella and Prince Charming.  Sleeping Beauty
brings the “Once Upon a Dream” to a grand finale, standing with Prince
Fillip on the hillside of her glittering crystal ch�teau!  The float will also be articulated (split
into two joined sections), with Snow White’s bridge spanning the two scenes.

A Parade in 5
Senses

Disney’s Once Upon a Dream Parade is the very
first Disney parade to fill all five senses with magic.  This unique
first in Disney history helps to put guests into the dream more than ever
before, as it unfolds before you and invites you to “Come a little closer”
and “Step into the wonder”.

Each of the five senses that make up a
perfect dream will be presented during the parade.  From the Sight of
the glorious, vibrant and whimsical floats to the Sound of the electric
orchestral rhythms and toe-tapping new theme song, it’s all been prepared
with trademark precision.  With more characters than ever before, the
parade will truly allow you to reach out and Touch your favourite Disney
friends, whilst the key new sensation of this brand new creation is the
surprising appearance of Scent as the
floats pass by.

Parfumeur Jean-Claude Gigodot has created
custom scents for each float, which will be emitted during the performance
to bring the themes and worlds to life.  Pinocchio’s Dreams of Laughter
& Fun float, for example, is joined by an old-fashioned wooden aroma, whilst
the Villain’s Dreams of Power is accompanied by the smell of burning and
flames.  The opening float, Dreams of Imagination, will feature the
aroma of candy, hinting perhaps at the fifth sense – Taste – could be sweets
handed out to children at the show stops.

History

The long-fabled “New Disneyland Park
Parade” is finally here! After years of ‘The
Wonderful World Of Disney Parade‘ and ‘Disney
Princess Parade‘, years of fans asking “will we finally get a new parade
next year?”, years of rumours and years of dreams… Disney’s Once Upon a
Dream Parade was finally confirmed in January 2006!  The project has
been directed by Katy Harris, who received the green-light for the parade in
January 2006 from Walt Disney Parks & Resorts President (and former CEO of
Euro Disney SCA) Jay Rasulo.

Descriptions and impressions of the eight
floats gradually appeared throughout 2006, culminating with the release of
concept art for the first float – “Dreams of Imagination” – in July 2006. 
This was then followed by a silhouette illustration of the eight floats
(seen in the float listing on this page) in an advertisement for performers
in September 2006, before the full key visual (seen at the top of this page)
was released with the Official 15th Anniversary Holiday Brochure in November
2006.

An article in French newspaper Le Parisien
in early January 2006 confirmed the instrumental float music was
orchestrated by British musician Steve Sidwell, whilst a special ‘Cast
Member Rendez-Vous’ event later that month gave Cast Members a first preview
of the song “Just Like We Dreamed It”, which was later repeated for the Euro
Disney SCA Shareholders AGM on 21st February 2007.

Early 2007 brought the first glances at
real, three-dimensional elements of the parade.  Le Parisien’s
interview with Katy Harris pictured the show director next to one of the
reflective, green princess flower dresses, whilst a press photo release in
late January presented the spectacular gold petal and leaf-decorated dresses
of Belle and Snow White.  A preview video on the official anniversary
website, Disneyland15.com, showed several very quick glances at the
backstage workshops during the construction of the floats, with sculpted but
uncoloured shells of the Imagination and Laughter & Fun floats visible. 
At the Shareholder’s AGM of 21st February 2007, the preview play of “Just
Like We Dreamed It” was accompanied by dancing from the Disney VIPs,
Princesses, pirates and several other performers in their brand new
costumes, whilst Shareholders were also treated to a presentation of concept
art for the eight floats.  Early March saw a preview featurette on the
German Disney Channel go backstage into the design workshops of the parade,
where the designers very briefly showed scale models and concept art of the
floats.  Throughout many of the previews, Fran�ois
Leroux, Vice President of Entertainment, was host.

The parade began full rehearsals (repetitions) in the first week of March,
after the park’s closure at night.  Several sources confirmed, however,
that problems with the design and construction of the floats prevented
several characters from riding on-board them.  During initial tests,
the opening hot air balloon basket was apparently too small for Mickey and
Minnie, and the Romance gazebo too small for Belle’s dress, for example.

The parade is reported to begin full daytime public rehearsal performances
(which may lack certain elements of the final show) from 24th March 2007,
with the official premiere scheduled for 14:45 on 31st March 2007.  The
completed Disney’s Once Upon a Dream Parade will then perform every day from
1st April 2007.
